Description

A spicy and sweet glaze makes these sweet heat meatballs great for parties. Meatballs on a stick for meatball lovers!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 bag (32 oz.) frozen, pre-cooked homestyle meatballs
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 4 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 can (8 oz.) crushed pineapple
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Over medium-high heat in a Dutch oven or large pot, bring the water to a boil.
  2. Add molasses, brown sugar, garlic powder, ginger, chili powder, cayenne, crushed pineapple and Worcestershire sauce and stir to combine.
  3. Do a taste test and season with salt and pepper to taste, if needed.
  4. Add in meatballs and stir to fully coat the meatballs in the sauce.
  5. Reduce heat to medium and simmer until the sauce reduces, about 10 minutes.
  6. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Molasses substitute – If you can’t find any molasses or don’t feel like adding some to your pantry because you won’t use it often enough, a good substitute would be maple syrup or honey.
  • Slow cooker method – Place all the ingredients in a 6 qt. slow cooker and stir to coat the meatballs fully in the sauce. Cook on HIGH for 2-3 hours or LOW for 3-4 hours or until meatballs are warmed through and sauce is bubbly. If the sauce is too thin, add a cornstarch slurry to thicken it up a little and simmer until thick.
