Creamed Corn

Description

This homemade creamed corn is rich and sweet, creamy and buttery, and perfect for summer cookouts and BBQs, or as a holiday side dish.


Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 (10 oz.) packages frozen corn kernels, thawed
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and add corn, heavy cream, sugar (optional), and salt and pepper.
  2. Whisk the milk and flour together and add to the corn mixture.
  3. Add Parmesan and cream cheese, simmer until sauce comes to a boil and thickens, about 12-15 minutes.
  4. Dish and serve hot.
  5. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Add more flavor – Add more flavor by sauteing some chopped onions or garlic in the melted butter before adding in the rest of the ingredients.
